Juniper Paragon Active Assurance

Paragon Active Assurance provides programmable, active testing and monitoring for physical, hybrid, and virtual networks. Unlike passive monitors, it uses active, synthetic traffic to verify performance throughout the lifecycle of each application and service.

The software automatically validates that services are configured correctly and that changes won’t impact service quality. NetOps teams can identify, troubleshoot, and resolve issues before they affect users, improve resolution times by up to 50 percent, and increase customer satisfaction and retention.

The Paragon Active Assurance test agent is natively embedded into Juniper ACX Series Routers. It turns your Juniper cloud metro network into the “experience sensor” that enables you to deliver differentiated service levels across your 5G, cloud metro, and other networks.

Key Features

  • End-to-end service insights for service-activation testing, quality monitoring, and troubleshooting
  • Rich set of Layer 2–7 data plane metrics
  • Open API that allows external automation tools, Network Functions Virtualization (NFV) orchestrators, and operations support systems (OSSs) to remotely control and monitor Paragon traffic-generating test agents
  • Easy to deploy; start small and scale as business needs grow
  • Software-only and cloud-ready

Features + Benefits

Active Layer 2–7 Testing

Software-based test agents actively generate real-world packets on the data plane and measure service quality in real time across multiple applications, services, and technology domains.

Automated and Orchestrated

REST APIs and YANG models enable service assurance processes to be integrated with network controllers, service orchestrators, and OSSs for complete automation.

Lightweight and Software-Only

Software-only, flexible, and automatable service assurance is suited to any network topology, use case, and software-driven network.

Test Agent Inventory

Test agents automatically discover and register with the control center and appear as resources in the inventory after being launched or connected physically to the network.

Instant Remote Deployment

Test agents can be deployed in a variety of formats to meet your service needs: as a virtual machine (VM) on a hypervisor, container application, or software appliance on bare-metal x86 hardware; on a network device; on a standard PC, or booted from a USB device.

SaaS or On-Premises

You can deploy Paragon Active Assurance as a securely hosted SaaS in the AWS public cloud or install it on-premises in your private cloud infrastructure or data center.

5G Equipment, gNodeB Emulation

To validate that network slices deliver on service-level agreements (SLAs), 5G operators can send traffic through the 5G user plane using synthetic traffic from emulated user equipment and gNodeBs. Verify that new slice instances deliver on expected latency, jitter, service response time, and other metrics.
