Juniper Mist Indoor Location Services use virtual Bluetooth LE (vBLE) to enable businesses to provide location-based experiences that are engaging, accurate, real-time, and scalable.
Juniper Mist User Engagement is a subscription-based cloud service that enables the highly accurate indoor tracking of people and assets. It’s used for the purpose of engaging individuals in a meaningful way, such as helping them navigate to a destination and/or targeting them with proximity messages, advertising, and contextual offers. The service converges standards-based Bluetooth® LE and Wi-Fi technologies in Juniper Access Points to allow engagement platforms to discover location information about each user that can be used for decision-making and personalized messaging.
User Engagement uses the concept of probability surfaces instead of triangulation. The more RF signals a client “hears” from Juniper APs, the more received signal strength indicator (RSSI) data there is for the location engine to work with to create a sum of probability surfaces. This approach provides the best possible location accuracy in real time and with sub-second latency. Mobile devices containing the Juniper location SDK receive BLE signals from Juniper AP(s). The SDKs then send the mobile information to the cloud, where the Juniper Mist location engine calculates an x, y coordinate for each device and sends it back to that device. This process happens continually, as users move and the RF environment changes dynamically.
Organizations wanting to provide enhanced experiences to customers based on their locations should use the User Engagement indoor location service. They can use their existing Juniper Access Point infrastructure to begin using the service, with no need to deploy any new hardware or overlay networks.
You simply subscribe to the User Engagement service on a per-AP basis.
Using our patented virtual BLE (vBLE) beacons/tags, the service delivers location accuracy of 1 to 3 meters.
Yes, both services can be enabled at the same time via controls in the Juniper Mist dashboard.
The Juniper Mist platform is 100% programmable, using open APIs, for full automation and seamless integration with your external applications and complementary products. The APIs provide the capability to invoke actions based on user or external events, as well as to use the cloud-native webhook framework.
Juniper Mist machine learning operates across distinct end-user devices, gathering location estimates from them, detecting RF characteristics based on the input, and constructing specifically tailored path- loss formulae. Our AI learning system continuously and automatically adapts the path-loss formulae to account for different devices and dynamically changing RF environments, allowing the system to maintain precise and up-to-date location information.
