The QFabric System is composed of multiple components working together as a single switch to provide high-performance, any-to-any connectivity and management simplicity in the data center. The QFabric System flattens the entire data center network to a single tier where all access points are equal, eliminating the effects of network locality and making it the ideal network foundation for cloud-ready, virtualized data centers.

QFabric is a highly scalable system that improves application performance with low latency and converged services in a non-blocking, lossless architecture that supports Layer 2, Layer 3, and Fibre Channel over Ethernet capabilities.

 QFabric System Components
  • QFabric Nodes, fixed-configuration edge platforms that connect to networked data center devices
  • QFabric Interconnect, a high-speed transport device that connects all QFabric Nodes in a full-mesh topology
  • QFabric Director, which provides control and management services for the full QFabric System

 QFabric System Models
  • QFX3000-M QFabric System, designed for mid–tier, satellite, and containerized data centers, supports up to 768 10GbE ports with average port-to-port latency of 3 microseconds.
  • QFX3000-G QFabric System, designed for large enterprises, service providers, and cloud data centers, supports up to 6,144 10GbE ports with an average port-to-port latency of 5 microseconds.

Feature Benefit
Architecture scales up to 40 Tbps Unprecedented capacity beyond 10GbE at the access layer.
Ultra-low deterministic latency provides an order of magnitude improvement over traditional network architectures Ideal for supporting latency-sensitive applications, east-west traffic flows, virtualization, cloud computing, and other high-performance data center initiatives.
QFabric architecture creates single switch management, greatly simplifying data center operations Fewer switches in the data center translates into significantly less complexity and lower power, space, cooling and operational costs.
Carrier-class solution with no single point of failure Requires no downtime for reconfiguration and maintenance, maximizing network availability.
Scales from hundreds to thousands of ports within a single-tier network The QFabric architecture's "pay-as-you-grow" model can scale from a few hundred ports to 6,000 ports within a single-tier network.
Incremental growth allows conversion from top-of-rack to QFabric QFX Series Switches can be introduced into data centers incrementally as top-of-rack devices, interoperating with the current switch infrastructure and then converted to a QFabric Node edge device through a simple software configuration change, allowing transition to a QFabric solution without requiring a wholesale replacement of the existing network.
