The Juniper Networks Session and Resource Control portfolio is a dynamic network resource allocation solution that enables service providers to deliver differentiated products and services. Juniper Networks' SRC Series modules provide a feedback loop between applications, users, and the network to connect the service layer with the network layer. Their open interfaces allow integration with any network and any service offering, regardless of where the demand is generated. Service providers can also use this network resource allocation solution to generate additional revenue on their existing network infrastructure by adding dynamically activated services.
Unlike competitive network resource allocation solutions that utilize AAA for policy management or deploy static policy enforcement, Juniper Networks' SRC portfolio delivers granular dynamic policy enforcement on a per-service level. This allows you to deliver revenue-generating services on top of existing sessions. The SRC Series modules readily interface with your existing subscriber management databases, so you can map available network resources to subscriber and service profiles.
The SRC Series Session and Resource Control Modules consist of:
| Feature | Description |
|---|---|
| SRC Policy Engine | Maintains customer, network, and service configuration information to enable automated, policy-based service and subscriber provisioning. The SRC PE also allocates network resources in response to subscriber and application requests to ensure quality of service and experience and to protect the quality of previously accepted sessions. |
| SRC Diameter Gateway | Provides a Diameter interface that enables the SRC PE to perform Access Resource and Admission Control Functions (A-RACF), and to provision policies for Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) services, across the IP/MPLS network infrastructure. |
| SRC SOAP Gateway (SRC SG) | Uses the Simple Object Access Protocol (SOAP) to provide a simple, straightforward, and standard-based interface so that non-SRC Series applications can integrate with and use SRC software modules. |
| SRC Volume Tracking Application | Tracks subscribers, sessions, and applications based on granular, customer-configurable thresholds for volumes and durations, enabling fair resource usage. The SRC VTA can invoke policy-based actions, including limiting traffic, activating resources, and removing abusive users and applications. |
| SRC Threat Mitigation Portal (SRC TMP) | Works with Juniper Networks IDP Series Intrusion Detection and Prevention Appliances, Network and Security Manager, and routing platforms to dynamically detect and subvert threats to subscribers and the network. |
