PSDP
Juniper Networks Partner Solution Development Platform (PSDP) enables customers and partners to develop and deploy applications on JUNOS® Software using its powerful tools and resources, including a software development kit.
The Partner Solution Development Platform enables a broad range of applications, including event optimized routing, customized bandwidth management, advanced security services, and extended operations toolsets. Applications can run on the Routing Engine (RE) or a MultiServices PIC and can communicate with other network elements.
The PSDP offers:
- Control plane packet processing: The Routing Engine is best suited for applications processing control traffic such as network routing protocols, or user traffic protocols such as Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) or Real-Time Streaming Protocol (RTSP).
- High-speed data plane packet processing: The MultiServices PIC (MS-PIC) is a parallelized processing module that provides additional processing and memory power on many Juniper routing platforms. It is best suited to run applications requiring access to network traffic, such as those dependent on deep packet inspection or those that must modify high-bandwidth or latency-sensitive traffic.
- Distributed application processing: Applications in the RE or the MS-PIC can communicate directly with other networking elements or external servers. This allows flexibility and interoperability to use information from beyond the device and the network for network decision-making. For example, a PSDP application running on a router could communicate with an application that alerts it to power outages or other events that trigger planned changes in network configurations.
