TFTP: HP Intelligent Management Center TFTP Server MODE Code Execution

This signature detects attempts to exploit a known vulnerability in the HP Intelligent Management Center TFTP server. It is due to insufficient handling while processing malformed READ/WRITE request tftp packets. A successful attack can lead to a buffer overflow and arbitrary remote code execution within the context of the affected server.

Extended Description

Stack-based buffer overflow in tftpserver.exe in HP Intelligent Management Center (IMC) 5.0 before E0101L02 allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary code via a long mode field.
