SNMPTRAP: Community NULL Character

This protocol anomaly triggers when it detects a SNMP trap with a NULL character in the community string. This can cause some SNMP servers to behave incorrectly.

This signature detects an SNMP packet with a NULL community string. Receiving such a packet may indicate an attempt to attack a system. It may also be the result of a configuration or implementation error.
