SMTP: Response Relay Access Denied

This signature detects SMTP server responses that are generated when an unsuccessful attempt is made by a known spammer to relay e-mail through your SMTP port. If the SMTP server is configured to refuse connections from spamming Web sites, attackers receive a "550 Access Denied" error message.

Extended Description

A "Relaying Denied" SMTP response message detected in untrusted network could indicate a malicious party is attempting to abuse the mail server to transmit unsolicited messages.
