SMTP: Outlook Express MHTML Overflow

This signature detects attempts to exploit a known vulnerability in the Microsoft Outlook express. A successful attack can lead to a buffer overflow and arbitrary remote code execution within the context of the system.

Extended Description

Microsoft Windows is prone to a remote buffer-overflow vulnerability in 'INETCOMM.DLL'. The library fails to properly bounds-check user-supplied input data before copying it into an insufficiently sized memory buffer. Remote attackers may exploit this issue to execute arbitrary machine code in the context of affected users. Failed exploit attempts likely result in application crashes, denying service to legitimate users.
