SMB: Client Pool Corruption

This signature detects attempts to exploit a known vulnerability against Microsoft Server Message Block (SMB) protocol. An attacker can configure a malicious SMB server and induce a user to connect to it. The server responds with a malformed SMB packet to the user's client request, which can lead to arbitrary code execution.

Extended Description

Microsoft Windows is prone to a remote code-execution vulnerability. An attacker can exploit this issue to execute code with SYSTEM-level privileges. Failed exploit attempts will likely cause denial-of-service conditions.
