This signature detects scan attempts using the Satan network scanner.

Extended Description

If the SATAN probe successfully locates a vulnerability, the attacker could exploit this vulnerability to gain unauthorized access to the targeted host(s). Due to the nature of FTP services, which often run as root, a successful attack could result in the attacker acquiring Superuser privileges.
