SCAN: ISS FTP Scan
This signature detects attempts to access the FTP password file using ISS Security Assessment products.
Extended Description
If an attacker successfully identifies vulnerabilities in an FTP service, he or she could leverage the information to conduct further penetration of the targeted host(s). Due to the nature of FTP services which run on restricted ports not available to unprivileged users, successful exploitation could provide the attacker with full superuser privileges.
