RPC: Showmount Request (UDP)
This signature detects attempts to exploit a known vulnerability in the showmount command, which displays remote Network Filesystem (NFS) for a host. Attackers can send a maliciously crafted RPC request to obtain a list of directories exported by the mountd daemon. Attackers can then use this list of services running on the server to plan future, more targeted attacks.
Extended Description
Successful exploitation of this vulnerability would allow remote attackers to view confidential information on a server. The information obtained could assist remote attackers to analyze the system and further compromise it.
