This protocol anomaly is an NFS message that is not an RPC call (request) or RPC reply.
Extended Description
If an NFS packet has msg_type set to a value other than Call (0) or Reply (1), it is invalid, and constitutes a protocol anomaly. A remote attacker could forge such a packet, resulting in the receiving server failing to process the exception condition, causing it to crash.
