NFS Pathname Too Long

This protocol anomaly is an NFS message with pathname that exceeds the user-defined maximum. The default pathname maximum is 1024; you can change this setting in the Sensor Settings Rulebase>Protocol Thresholds and Configuration>NFS>Maximum path length.

Extended Description

A protocol anomaly exists if an RPC NFS message contains a pathname that exceeds either the user-defined maximum or default maximum. Some NFS implementations may be vulnerable in how they process such unusual exception conditions. The security flaws in these products may be exploited to cause a denial of service or other attacks.
