LDAP: Active Directory Request Overflow
This signature detects attempts to exploit a known vulnerability in Microsoft Windows Active Directory. A successful attack can lead to a buffer overflow and arbitrary remote code execution within the context of the server.
Extended Description
Microsoft Windows is prone to a remote code-execution vulnerability because Microsoft Active Directory fails to handle specially crafted user-supplied Lightweight Directory Access Protocol (LDAP) requests. An attacker can exploit this issue to execute arbitrary code with SYSTEM-level privileges. Successfully exploiting this issue will result in the complete compromise of affected computers. Failed exploit attempts will result in a denial-of-service condition.
