IP: Microsoft IGMPv3 DoS

This signature detects attempts to exploit a known vulnerability in the IGMP handling stack of Microsoft Windows XP and 2003 servers. Attackers can send maliciously crafted invalid IGMP packets, which can cause a denial of service.

Extended Description

A vulnerability in the handling of IGMPv3 (Internet Group Management Protocol) packets could result in a denial of service. An attacker can exploit this issue through a broadcast attack to cause vulnerable computers on the subnet to become unresponsive, effectively denying service to legitimate users.
