HTTP: Microsoft Office Excel Malformed Record Memory Corruption

This signature detects attempts to exploit a known vulnerability in Microsoft Office Excel products. It is due to manipulation of pointer values stored in record types Qsir. A successful attack can lead to memory corruption and arbitrary code execution.

Extended Description

Microsoft Excel is prone to a remote code-execution vulnerability. Attackers may exploit this issue by enticing victims into opening a maliciously crafted Excel ('.xls') file. Successful exploits may allow attackers to execute arbitrary code with the privileges of the user running the application.
