HTTP: VLC Media Player MP4_BoxDumpStructure Buffer Overflow
This signature detects attempts to exploit a known vulnerability in the VideoLan VLC media player mp4 parser. A successful attack can lead to a buffer overflow and arbitrary remote code execution within the context of the client.
Extended Description
VLC media player is prone to multiple stack-based buffer-overflow vulnerabilities. Attackers can exploit these issues to execute arbitrary code in the context of the affected application or crash the application, denying service to legitimate users. VLC media player 1.0.1 is vulnerable; prior versions may also be affected.
