HTTP: ASF Sample Rate Code Execution

This signature detects attempts to exploit a known vulnerability in the Microsoft Windows Media Runtime ASF parser. A successful attack can lead to a buffer overflow and arbitrary remote code execution within the context of the user.

Extended Description

Microsoft Windows Media Runtime is prone to a remote code-execution vulnerability because it fails to properly bounds-check user-supplied input. An attacker can exploit this issue to execute arbitrary code within the context of the affected application. Failed exploit attempts will result in a denial-of-service condition.
