HTTP: Yahoo! Messenger Webcam ActiveX Control Stack Buffer Overflow
This signature detects attempts to exploit a known vulnerability in Yahoo Instant Messenger. An attacker can create a malicious website containing dangerous Active X controls, which if accessed by a victim, can allow the attacker to gain control of the victim's client browser.
Extended Description
Yahoo! Messenger Webcam Upload ActiveX control is prone to a buffer-overflow vulnerability because it fails to perform adequate boundary checks on user-supplied data. Successfully exploiting this issue allows remote attackers to crash applications that use the affected control (typically Internet Explorer). Remote code execution may also be possible, but has not been confirmed. Yahoo! Messenger 8.0.1 is vulnerable; other versions may also be affected.
