HTTP: Kazaa Altnet Download Manager Unsafe ActiveX Method
This signature detects attempts to use unsafe ActiveX controls in Kazaa Altnet Download Manager. An attacker can create a malicious Web site containing Web pages with dangerous ActiveX controls, which if accessed by a victim, allows the attacker to gain control of the victim's client browser.
Extended Description
Altnet Download Manager ADM4 ActiveX control is prone to a buffer-overflow vulnerability because it fails to bounds-check user-supplied data before copying it into an insufficiently sized buffer. Attackers can exploit this issue to cause a denial-of-service condition or to execute arbitrary code. This issue affects Altnet Download Manager 4.0; other versions may also be affected. KaZaA and Grokster are considered vulnerable as well.
