HTTP: IBM Lotus Domino iNotes Web Access Unsafe ActiveX Control

This signature detects attempts to use unsafe ActiveX controls in IBM Lotus Domino iNotes Web Access. An attacker can create a malicious Web site containing Web pages with dangerous ActiveX controls, which if accessed by a victim, allows the attacker to gain control of the victim's client browser, resulting in a user-level arbitrary code execution. IBM Lotus Domino versions 6.5, 7.0 prior to 7.0.4, and 8 prior to 8.5 are affected.

Extended Description

The Domino Web Access ActiveX control is prone to a buffer-overflow vulnerability because the application fails to perform adequate boundary checks on user-supplied data. Domino Web Access is also known as Lotus iNotes. Successful exploits allow remote attackers to execute arbitrary code in the context of the application using the ActiveX control (typically Internet Explorer). Failed exploit attempts will likely result in denial-of-service conditions. The following are vulnerable: Domino Web Access 6.5 Domino Web Access 7.0 prior to 7.0.4 Domino Web Access 8.0 prior to 8.0.2FP4 Hotfix 229.281
