FTP: "space.asp" Upload
This signature detects attempts to upload the file space.asp. Attackers can determine the amount of disk space on the server. Note: This attack often preceeds attempts to use a server as an illegal warez site.
Extended Description
If a software pirate exposes a vulnerable FTP server using Grim's Ping, the server could be used to store illegal copyrighted content for distribution. Network performance could deteriorate due to large amounts of data transfer. File trading activity could disrupt legitimate processes operating on the targeted host due to deletion of critical files, or exhaustion of the affected host's resources.
