DNS: Name Authority Pointer Integer Overflow

This signature detects attempts to exploit a known vulnerability in the Microsoft DNS server. A successful attack can lead to a buffer overflow and arbitrary remote code execution within the context of the server.

Extended Description

The Microsoft Windows DNS Server is prone to a remote heap-based memory corruption vulnerability. An attacker can exploit this issue to execute arbitrary code with SYSTEM-level privileges. Successful exploits will result in the complete compromise of affected computers.
