Fluidata needed to build its Internet service provider business on a network platform that offers high density 1GbE and 10GbE performance, as well as scalability to 100GbE in the future — all with rich IP/MPLS services. It also needed a simplified network design that was easy to manage.
Piers Daniell, Managing Director, Fluidata
Fluidata focuses its ISP business on business customers, and operates its own highly resilient network from 10 data centers in the UK, provides Layer 2 DSL and Ethernet services to more than 50 ISPs, and manages entire core networks for service providers and enterprise customers.
The company was operating three separate networks to serve its L3 and L2 customers, and wanted to consolidate them to improve efficiency, simplify network management, improve operations, and reduce costs. It also wanted the new network to be easy to upgrade and scale in line with business growth and technology trends.
Fluidata strengthened its network with MX Series 3D Universal Edge Routers and EX Series Ethernet Switches, and standardized on the Junos Operating System for management of all routing and switching elements, enabling it to better focus its operations resources and be proactive in its support approach.
Fluidata has seen notable performance improvements with its new network. The company’s network is now fully scalable to accommodate future growth, easier to manage and maintain, and offers a number of new customer-facing features.
