Preparing today’s perpetually connected, YouTube-focused, generation of students for academic and career success requires a fresh approach to education.
Paul Dusini, CIO, Champlain College
For more than 125 years, Champlain College in Burlington, Vermont has been offering educational programs that help students learn the skills and experience they need to be successful after they graduate to careers in the modern world.
The requirements of its technology-intensive education degrees and programs, and the support required for its growing residential student population required Champlain to develop a 10-year strategic plan and that called for a new, high-performance, campus network.
Champlain got a fresh start on its new campus network with a Juniper Networks infrastructure. It was able to simplify the network design by removing the network layer in many places which optimized performance.
Champlain’s new campus network infrastructure has delivered a tenfold bandwidth improvement, and the network simplification achieved by eliminating the network aggregation switches has lowered the total cost of ownership. In addition, running Junos OS has improved the reliability, performance, and security, of existing applications.
