"Junos OS has a sweet command line interface. I love that about Junos OS. I can jump from ACX Series devices to MX104 to the SRX Series, and it works the same."
Aaron Gould Senior Network Engineer, GVTC Communications

GVTC Communications is a growing provider of high-speed Internet, digital cable, TV, phone, and interactive security monitoring to residential and business customers in South Central Texas. A fiber broadband leader, GVTC was first to deliver residential gigabit speeds in the San Antonio area.

Business Challenge

Passionate about its customers, GVTC wanted to provide the best services at the best prices possible as it expanded its coverage area for gigabit services. GVTC needed a broadband aggregation router with higher port density and the same robust MPLS provider edge feature set its services relied on.

Technology Solution

GVTC thoroughly compared leading aggregation routers and chose the high-density ACX5048 Universal Access Router, with its robust MPLS feature set, cost-effective metro Ethernet access and aggregation, and capacity up to 40GbE. Additionally, the modular MX104 3D Universal Edge Router provides carrier-grade Network Address Translation (NAT), so small pools of public addresses can be shared among GVTC’s end sites.

Business Results

GVTC’s redesigned network is easier to manage. The common Junos OS running across Juniper devices shortens the time to deploy new services and lowers network operations costs. GVTC has bolstered its mission to bring high-speed communications services to small communities, helping attract economic development and improve residents’ quality of life.

"The Juniper routers and new network are performing the way we designed them. . . . We’re really pleased with the Juniper routers. We don’t hear much out of them, which is good."
Aaron Gould Senior Network Engineer, GVTC Communications
