Turning 200 wireless hotspots into the hottest spot in music.

The network infrastructure is the backbone of operations at the Roskilde Festival in Denmark. Besides managing all of the video surveillance, credit card terminals, payment systems, and IT systems that control the shows, it also provides Web surfing for its 100,000 festival goers.

For the latest festival, wireless hotspots were being deployed across the site for uninterrupted Internet access at the latest festival and, combined with demanding content streaming requirements, it required a 10-fold network capacity increase.

Business Challenge

The goal was to overhaul an expensive but underperforming festival network while keeping costs to a minimum, while increasing bandwidth, and providing a secure and reliable MPLS network that would stand the test of time.

Business Solution

The network upgrade included EX Series Ethernet Switches, MX Series 3D Universal Edge Routers, SRX Series Services Gateways, and the Junos operating system.

"Compared to other vendors we looked at, the Juniper price point was really quite incredible and we are very pleased with the result."
Jonas Hauge Planning and Procurement, Roskilde Festival

Business Results

The Juniper network delivered the required 10-fold increase in network capacity, serviced over 200 wireless hotspots, enabled a rich content experience to be streamed from the festival, and introduced a future-ready, flexible infrastructure at a competitive price point.

"The infrastructure we have put in place with IPnett and Juniper Networks will enable us to deliver almost anything to take advantage of the rich content coming our way, now and well into the future."
