IMPORTANT NOTICE: For those of you, who will need to recertify on the following certification credentials, please access the Recertification Table Updates with Recent P & E level exam announcements Web site for specific recertification instructions:
- JNCIA-M, JNCIS-M, JNCIP-M, JNCIE-M
- JNCIA-ER, JNCIS-ER, JNCIE-ER
- JNCIA-EX
We have made numerous changes to the JNCP, and it’s important that you understand how to move forward with your certification credentials as these program enhancements commence.
To maintain the high standards of the JNCP certifications, and to ensure that the skills of those certified are kept current and relevant, Juniper Networks has implemented the following recertification requirements, which apply to all the certification tracks of the JNCP. These requirements are subject to change.
- Program participants can view their certification status using Cert Manager
and will periodically be notified via email regarding changes in their status. It is the responsibility of certification holders to keep their certifications and contact information up to date. - All JNCP certifications are valid for a period of two years. Certification holders who do not renew their certification within the two-year period will have their certification placed in suspended mode. Certifications in suspended mode are not eligible as prerequisites for further certification, are not eligible for certification benefits and may not be applied towards partner certification requirements.
To renew your certification:
- JNCIA holders must pass the current JNCIA exam in order to renew their certification. You may also choose to advance your certification by passing the appropriate JNCIS exam.
- JNCIS holders must pass the current JNCIS exam in order to renew their certification. You may also choose to advance your certification by passing the appropriate JNCIP exam.
- JNCIP-E holders must pass the current JNCIS-E exam in order to renew their certification.
- JNCIP-SP/ENT/SEC holders must pass the current JNCIP-SP/ENT/SEC exams in order to renew their certification. You may also choose to advance your certification by passing the appropriate JNCIE-SP/ENT/SEC Lab Exams when available in Q3/Q4 2011.
- Renewed certifications are valid for a period of two years from the date of passing the renewed certification exam.
- Passing an exam at a higher level renews all lower-level certifications for two years from the date of passing the higher-level exam. For example, passing the JNCIP exam will renew the JNCIS certification (and JNCIA certification if currently held) for two years from the date of passing the JNCIP exam.
IMPORTANT NEW PROGRAM ENHANCEMENT: Certification Status Categories
To ensure the currency of our certified community, and to enforce our policy around expired certifications, we have redefined our certification status categories. The previous certification status categories included Active and Expired. In the past candidates were allowed to recertify an expired certification at any time. This is longer allowed.
Effective August, 1, 2011, we are adding an Inactive status, providing candidates a 12 month "grace period" to re-certify. Please review detailed definitions below to determine how this impacts your status.
If your certification expired before January 1, 2011 please note: We are offering a transition period through December 31, 2011. Your certification will move from “expired” to “inactive”, giving you the rest of 2011 to recertify. We highly recommend that candidates take advantage of this opportunity as this will not be extended into 2012.
The certification status categories, timeframes and eligibilities are as follows:
| Status | Timeframe | Eligibilities |
|
Active
| Two Years from date of certification | - Eligible for all benefits
- Qualify under the Partner certification compliance requirements
|
|
Inactive
| 12 Months after the Active status ends | - Can be recertified
- Are not eligible for benefits
- Do not qualify under the Partner certification compliance requirements
- Can still be used to fulfill prerequisite requirements for written exams
- Cannot be used to fulfill prerequisite requirements for JNCP lab exams
|
|
Expired
| Immediately after the Inactive status ends | - Are not eligible for benefits
- Do not qualify under the Partner certification compliance requirements
- Cannot be used to fulfill any prerequisite requirements
- Cannot be recertified
- Candidates with an expired certification must start again at the bottom of that certification track
|
NOTE: JNCIA-Junos substitutes (JNCIA/S-M, JNCIA/S-ER and JNCIA-EX) will move to and permanently stay in the Inactive status, as these are legacy certifications that cannot be recertified.
New Junos-based Tracks - Replacing M/T Series, Enterprise Switching, and Enterprise Routing Tracks
- The M/T Series, Enterprise Switching, and Enterprise Routing tracks are being transitioned to our new Junos-based Service Provider Routing and Switching and Enterprise Routing and Switching tracks.
- JNCIx-M/T, JNCIx-ER and JNCIx-ES certifications remain valid and eligible for certification benefits until their normal 2-year recertification period.
- As with our current recertification policies, those holding a Professional and Expert level certification earned by completing a lab exam can recertify at the same level by taking the Professional-level written exam. You will not be required to recertify by taking another lab exam. Specific recertification requirements, as you move from the M series track to the new Service Provider track, are available on the Program Updates page or in the Juniper Networks Certification Program Recertification Paths [
