Environmental Compliance

Juniper's greatest impact on the environment is through our products and services. We're reducing our carbon footprint by designing reliable, quality products and services that are environmentally responsible throughout all phases of their life cycle. This is a complex challenge, but it gives us the opportunity to actively demonstrate our commitment to the cause.

Part of our commitment involves closely monitoring our compliance with local and international laws in all of our locations around the world. We work actively with governments, industry partners, consortia, and others as we strive to harmonize various product design regulations with technological innovation. Juniper Networks objectives for product design include:

• Reducing CO2 product footprint.
• Reducing ozone-depleting materials and/or substances.
• Meeting restriction of hazardous substance legislation.
• Reducing fossil fuel consumption utilizing energy-efficient design improvements and through research.

Our product designers and suppliers identify and recommend environmental improvements through a company-wide design for the environment (DfE) program, which is based on the New Product Introduction (NPI) process. The priorities of the Juniper Networks DfE initiative are product energy efficiency, materials innovation, and recyclable materials.
