Juniper Networks Enterprise Routing Certification Track

The Juniper Networks Technical Certification Program (JNTCP) Enterprise Routing certification track allows participants to demonstrate competence with Juniper Networks JUNOS-based routers and their deployment in the enterprise.

Retiring Exam: JN0-341 (JNCIA-ER) retired March 1, 2008.

New Exam: JN0-342 (JNCIA-ER) is now available.

Juniper Networks Certified Internet Associate (JNCIA-ER)

Exam Registration

  • Exam code: JN0-342
  • Written exam administered at Prometric testing centers worldwide
  • Exam length: 90 minutes
  • Exam type: 60 multiple-choice questions
  • Passing grade: 70%
  • Scoring and pass/fail status is available immediately
  • Prerequisite certification: none
  • Recommended Training:
Designed for experienced networking professionals with beginner to intermediate knowledge of Juniper Networks JUNOS-based routers and their deployment in the enterprise. JNCIA-ER exam topics are based on the content of the Operating Juniper Networks Routers in the Enterprise instructor-led training course.

The JNCIA-ER certification is valid for two years. Recertification is achieved by passing the current version of the JNCIA-ER exam.

Exam topics include:
Enterprise router overview, management, and architecture; user interface of enterprise routers, installation and initial configuration, monitor and maintain J-series platforms, routing protocols, and services.



Test Level Exam Information Description

Juniper Networks Certified Internet Specialist (JNCIS-ER)

Exam Registration

The JNCIS-ER is designed for networking professionals with advanced knowledge of, and experience with, Juniper Networks JUNOS-based routers and their deployment in the enterprise. The JNCIS-ER exam tests for a wider and deeper level of knowledge than does the JNCIA-ER exam. Sources of question content include all Enterprise Routing training courses, the JUNOS documentation set, on-the-job product experience, as well as Internet technologies and design principles considered to be common knowledge at the Specialist level.

The JNCIS-ER certification is valid for two years. Recertification is achieved by passing the current version of the JNCIS-ER exams.

Exam topics include:
JUNOS policy, BGP for enterprises, IGP conversion, Layer 2 services, Layer 3 services overview, stateful firewall and NAT/PAT, IPSec VPNs, class of service, branch office connectivity, router management.

Note-In cases of identical topics in both the JNCIA-ER and JNCIS-ER exam, questions are of a more advanced nature on the JNCIS-ER exam.



Test Level Exam Information Description

Juniper Networks Certified Internet Expert (JNCIE-ER)

Exam Registration

  • Exam code: CERT-JNCIE-ER
  • Practical exam (hands-on lab)
  • Held at selected Juniper Networks testing centers
  • Exam length: 8 hours
  • Pass/fail status is available within ten business days
  • Prerequisite certification: JNCIS-ER
  • Recommended Training: Above plus additional training as individually required
The JNCIE-ER is designed to validate the networking professional's ability to configure and troubleshoot the features of the J-series routers. These features include the service features such as IPsec, NAT, and GRE in addition to the routing protocols BGP, OSPF and RIP. The candidate will have expert knowledge of the JUNOS software CLI. Passing the JNCIS-ER exam is a requirement for attempting the JNCIE-ER practical exam.

The JNCIE-ER certification is valid for two years. Recertification is achieved by passing the current version of the JNCIS-ER exam.

Exam topics MAY include:
JUNOS policy, BGP for enterprises, IGP conversion, Layer 2 services, Layer 3 services overview, stateful firewall and NAT/PAT, IPSec VPNs, class of service, branch office connectivity, router management.
