As in previous videos, the hamburger menu is very helpful to customize the view of the app screen. Please pick and choose what you need, and there it is. The columns are sortable, so that can then make things even more useful.
Now we can give the AP a name, add labels if needed. This can be useful if you wanna apply policies to a specific group of APs. You could change the site it's attached to or put it back into inventory. Here, you can add a device profile, but please go and see a separate video on this topic. You can also add specific notes about this AP that might be useful to other administrators.
We see the WLANs active on this AP.
This AP is on a floor plan, which isn't a Wi Fi requirement, but it is necessary for location. We have added auto placement tools to make this process painless. You can also see AP model name, version number, and perhaps photos that were taken when the AP was installed.
Here we see about the switch we're connected to via LLDP. Now we can see the power source as LLDP and the power requested and allocated. If there were a problem here, you would see an alert.
In this status block, we have all the network info, DHCP server, various IP addresses per VLAN, gateway, DNS servers, etcetera, and the AP uptime.
Here you have the IP address config. We strongly recommend the use of DHCP, but we can do statics and adjust the MTU. We also have the support for single hop mesh, and that's configured here.
Under Ethernet, PoE pass through is available through the second port, but we recommend caution. Some folks may daisy chain a BT11, which draws about five or six watts. We strongly encourage folks to be conservative with their power budgets.
If the switch is configured for 802.1x, the supplicant can be configured here.
We have support for some electronic shelf label partners, and that is configured here.
The VBLE array can be configured here, but this needs to be activated at the site level, and we recommend you keep these default settings. Please see the location documentation for more information.
Now you can configure the dual-band radio, but most customers control this at the site level and let AI RRM do its job.
As configured, you can see the 5 and 6 gigahertz statistics for this AP here. This was set up this way at the site level.
And we have location integrations with AeroScout and CenTrak, and they would be configured here.
We do have some basic AP testing tools here. You could run a trace route or check an ARP table. If you're having a problem with the AP and plan on opening a support ticket, please click send the logs to Mist in advance by clicking here. The logs will be automatically stored in the cloud and flagged for support. This can greatly reduce troubleshooting time.
Firmware settings are normally configured at the site level, but you can upgrade a single AP. Keep in mind, Mist only sends the diffs and not the entire image, and this download will happen in the background to another partition on the AP while it's serving clients.
If it's passed all its checks, it will reboot, which takes about twenty seconds, and then you'll be back in business.
