Create AI Cluster Template with EVPN Control Plane

Introduction

Apstra 6.1 enables you to create an AI cluster template with EVPN control plane using the AI Template Designer tool. Use this template to create a blueprint that combines rail-optimized architecture with an EVPN control plane overlay. As a result, you can create an AI fabric with network isolation.

Blueprint Details

An AI cluster blueprint with EVPN uses the existing rail/stripe architecture for GPU host cabling. For more information, see Backend GPU Rail Optimized Stripe Architecture.

Rails still interconnect GPUs on different servers, which connect to leaf switches within each stripe. With the addition of EVPN, routing zones and virtual networks provide multitenancy capability, instead of rail-defined VLANs. Blueprint Analytics

AI Cluster blueprints with EPVN support the following existing analytics:

Create an AI Cluster Template with EVPN Control Plane

  1. Navigate to Design > Templates.
  2. Click Create AI Cluster Template.

    The Create AI Cluster Template window displays.​

  3. Under Fabric Connectivity Design, select L3 Clos.
  4. Select EVPN as the overlay control plane.​
  5. Enter GPUs per server, total number of servers, servers per stripe, GPU NIC speed, and oversubscription.
    The total GPU count calculates automatically.​


  6. (Optional) Expand the Advanced Calculator Settings option to specify device profiles, logical devices, and leaf to spine speeds.

    The calculator displays compatible configurations.​

  7. Click Find Matching Configurations and select the configuration that matches the intended hardware platforms and interface types.​
  8. Inspect the template preview to verify stripe count and rail layout. Verify leaf and spine quantities as well.
  9. Click Create Template to instantiate a rail-optimized AI template with EVPN.

    You can use the template to create AI cluster blueprints in your environment.
