Removing an Uplink Module from an EX-series Switch
EX-series switches have a field-replaceable
unit (FRU) uplink module on the front panel. The uplink module in
an EX-series switch is not hot-removable and hot-insertable.
Ensure you have the following tools and parts
available to remove an uplink module from an EX-series switch chassis:
- Electrostatic discharge (ESD) grounding strap
- Cross-head screwdriver (provided in the uplink module
kit)
- An electrostatic bag or antistatic mat
Ensure you understand how to prevent ESD damage (see Preventing Electrostatic Discharge Damage).
To remove an uplink module from an EX-series
switch:
- Attach an electrostatic discharge (ESD) grounding
strap to your bare wrist, and connect the strap to the ESD point on
the chassis.
- If the switch is on, power it off. Ensure that
the AC OK LED on the power supply is unlit.
- Loosen the screws that secure the flip-up door
covering the uplink module slot on the front panel of the chassis
by using the cross-head screwdriver provided with the uplink module
kit and flip the door upward.
- Insert the ball end of the screwdriver in the keyhole
on the front panel of the uplink module and slide the screwdriver
to the narrow part of the keyhole (see Figure 45).
|
Caution:
Ensure the screwdriver does not slip out of the keyhole
when you pull the uplink module out of the switch chassis.
|
- Using both hands, gently pull the screwdriver to
slide the uplink module halfway out of the chassis (see Figure 46).
- Place one hand under the uplink module to support
it and slide it completely out of the chassis.
- Slide the screwdriver out of the keyhole.
- Place the uplink module in the electrostatic bag
or on the antistatic mat.
