For all ScreenOS products released after July 15, 2008, the software support policy has been revised. For ScreenOS software products released after July 15, 2008, the period of active engineering support will be the current release plus two (2) subsequent releases, or up to eighteen (18) months from the FRS date, whichever occurs first. All software releases are considered major.

For ScreenOS software products released prior to July 15, 2008, the period of active engineering support will be up to thirty-six (36) months from the FRS date. All software releases are considered major. The product cycle is approximately six (6) months, so the period of active engineering support typically includes the current release plus five (5) subsequent releases.

Update releases (e.g. service, maintenance, patch) will no longer be created for major software releases after the end of engineering (EOE) date.

JTAC support will continue after EOE for up to twelve (12) months, typically two (2) subsequent releases. After EOE and until EOL JTAC support will be generally limited to investigation and troubleshooting in an attempt to provide solutions and workarounds.

When the release reaches EOL the software images are removed from www.juniper.net and JTAC will only provide support on a commercially reasonable effort basis.

Universal Threat Management (UTM) Information:

Support for a UTM feature (and any included software subscription or database updates) on a particular OS version will end on the EOL date of that OS version. To continue using the UTM feature, one must upgrade to a newer OS version that has not reached EOL.

An unexpired UTM license will enable continued use of and support for the UTM feature or features on newer OS versions.

Should Juniper end its contract with a UTM OEM partner, support for the partners UTM feature or features (and any included software subscription or database updates) will continue up to three years from contract termination or OS version EOL, whichever comes first.

NOTE: Juniper Networks, Inc. makes every effort to support ScreenOS software releases on all active platforms. However, this may not always be possible because of hardware limitations. If the stated EOE date of the last software release scheduled to support a platform occurs prior to the EOL date of the platform, engineering support will be automatically extended for that software release/platform combination to match the hardware EOL date, in order to provide bug fixes and patches throughout the entire lifetime of the hardware platform.
