About the Rule Instantiations Tab

To access this tab, click Observability > Health > Custom KPI Collection > Rule Instantiations.

Use this tab to view all rule instances that you created. You create a rule instance to apply a custom rule on one or more devices. For more information on custom rules, see Rules Overview.

Tasks You Can Perform

You can perform the following tasks from this tab:

  • View all rule instances.

  • Create a rule instance. See Add a Rule Instance.

  • Create a new tag or add a tag to a rule instance. See Add Tags to a Rule Instance.

  • Edit an existing rule instance. See Edit a Rule Instance.

  • Delete an existing rule instance. See Delete a Rule Instance.

  • Click a rule instance (hyperlink) to view detail of alerts generated on the Monitor Rule-Instance page. See About the Monitor Instance-Name Page.

  • Sort, resize, or re-arrange columns in a table (grid).

  • Show or hide columns in the table or reset page preferences, using the vertical ellipsis menu.

  • Search by using keywords—Click the search icon (magnifying glass), enter the search term in the text box, and press Enter. The search results are displayed on the same page.

  • Filter the data displayed in the table—Click the filter icon (funnel) and select whether you want to show or hide advanced filters. You can then add or remove filter criteria, save criteria as a filter, apply or clear filters, and so on. The filtered results are displayed on the same page.

Field Descriptions

Table 1 lists the fields on the Rule Instantiations Tab.

Field Description

Name

Name of the rule instance.

Alert

Alerts generated on the devices added to the rule instance.

Rules

Names of the custom rules added to the rule instance.

Hover over + number to view the names of the other rules added to the instance but are not displayed by default.

State

State of the rule instance. The states are:

  • Running

  • Paused

Tags

Names of all the tags associated with the rule instance.

A tag is a label (unique key/value pair) that you assign to a rule instance. You can use these labels to filter rule instances.

Description

Brief description of the rule instance, if any.
