Rules Overview
A rule is used to extract information from a device in a network. Paragon Automation enables you to upload custom rules that define how key performance indicators (KPIs) for various device components are collected. You can then apply a custom rule on devices by creating a rule instance. After you deploy a rule instance,
-
Alerts are generated when a KPI crosses the threshold limit defined in the custom rules file.
-
You can take corrective measures to address the alerts.
Understand Custom Rules
You use a custom rule to define key performance indicators (KPIs). You can organize these rules into rule instances and apply the rule to devices. Before you can upload a custom rule by using the Paragon Automation GUI, you must define a custom rule. To define a custom rule based on your requirements, we recommend that you contact Juniper Networks Professional Services.
After you have received the custom rule from the Juniper Networks Professional Services team, you must:
Upload a custom rule. See Upload a Custom Rule.
Include the custom rule in a rule instance.
See step 3.c of the Add a Rule Instance topic.
Apply the instance to one or more devices.
See step 5 of the Add a Rule Instance topic.
Execute or deploy the rule instance.
See step 8.c of the Add a Rule Instance topic.
Monitor rule instances.
