Add a Rule Instance
Paragon Automation uses a custom rule to define key performance indicators (KPIs). You can then apply custom rules to network devices by using rule instances. For more information, see Rules Overview.
You can create a rule instance by using the Paragon Automation UI. However, before you create a rule instance, you must upload a custom rule. For more information, see Upload a Custom Rule.
To add a rule instance:
Click Observability > Health > Custom KPI Collection > Rule Instantiations.
The All Rule Instantiations tab appears.
Click the (+) icon.
The General section of the Create Instance wizard appears.
Enter the following information in the General section:
Enter a name for the instance in the Name field.
Enter a description for the instance in the Description field.
Select rules that you want to add to the instance. To select a rule:
Click the add (+) icon in the Selected Rules section. The Select Rules page appears.
Select all the rules that you want to add to the instance in the Selected Rules section by clicking the check boxes next to the name of the rules.
Click OK to confirm selection.
Click Next.
The Devices section of the Create Instance wizard appears.
Select all devices that you want to add to the instance in the Device section.
To select a device:
Click the add (+) icon in the Selected Devices section. The Select Devices page appears.
Select all the devices that you want to add to the instance by clicking the check boxes next to the name of the devices.
Click OK to confirm selection.
Click Next.
The Parameters section of the Create Instance wizard appears. You can view all the rules that you selected in step 3.c in this section.
Click Next to view a summary of the general information, rules added, devices selected, and rule parameters that you provided in the various sections of the wizard.
Do any of the following:
Click Cancel to exit the wizard without saving changes.
Click Back to go to the Parameters section of the Create Instance wizard.
Click Execute to create the rule instance.
The Monitor Execute Status page appears displaying the overall progress and the final status (success or failure) of the rule instance execution job.
After the rule instance execution job is completed, click Close & Exit.
The Rules Instantiations tab appears and displays the newly created rule instance.
