Enhanced CoS Handling and Dynamic Subscriber Management (ACX7100-48L, ACX7332, ACX7348)

Enhanced CoS Handling and Dynamic Subscriber Management for Junos OS Evolved release 25.1R1

Overview

Starting Junos OS Evolved Release 25.1R1, subscriber management and CoS handling capabilities support dynamic interface configurations with CoS IFLSET and ACI VLAN, enabling enhanced traffic management and prioritization, ensuring that critical services receive appropriate bandwidth and low-latency handling. The dynamic nature of these configurations supports real-time adjustments based on subscriber needs, enhancing service quality and network performance.

Low-rate mode for queue shaping supports granular traffic shaping, starting from 64 Kbps for low-rate applications that require precise bandwidth allocation. Even minimal traffic flows are managed efficiently, preventing congestion and maintaining optimal performance across the network. This feature is useful in environments with diverse traffic patterns and stringent service level agreements.

Support for dynamic updates to classifier, rewrite, and drop profiles without disrupting existing subscriber sessions. You can adjust traffic management policies dynamically, responding to changing network conditions or service requirements without causing downtime. Additionally, CoS support for LAC subscribers includes Layer-2 classification and Layer-3 rewrite in the uplink direction, improves traffic handling and service quality for subscribers. Configuring these CoS features enhances the network's ability to deliver high-quality services to LAC subscribers efficiently.

Benefits of Subscriber Management and CoS Handling

  • Enhances traffic management and prioritization for dynamic subscriber interfaces, resulting in improved service quality and user experience.

  • Provides precise traffic shaping capabilities for low-rate applications, optimizing network resource utilization.

  • Facilitates dynamic adjustments to traffic management policies without disconnecting existing subscribers, ensuring seamless service.

  • Improves traffic classification and management for LAC subscribers, enhancing overall network performance and service quality.

  • Simplifies the configuration and management of egress filters for IPv4, reducing administrative overhead and configuration errors.

Configuration Commands

To effectively utilize the enhanced CoS and subscriber management features, you can use various CLI commands. These commands provide detailed insights into the configurations to maintain network performance, optimization and troubleshooting:

  • show user-plane class-of-service classifier: Displays the details of CoS classifiers, allowing you to verify and troubleshoot classification rules.

  • show user-plane class-of-service rewrite-rule: Views CoS rewrite rules, ensuring that traffic is being marked and handled correctly.

  • show user-plane class-of-service scheduler-map: Shows the scheduler map details, which are crucial for understanding how traffic is prioritized and scheduled.

  • show user-plane class-of-service traffic-control-profile: Displays the traffic control profile details, helping you manage and optimize traffic control settings.

  • show user-plane class-of-service interface <interface-name>: Provides CoS information for a specific interface, useful for interface-specific troubleshooting and configuration validation.
