Utilities

The Utilities on the Router:Router Name page enables you to access a router's CLI and test connectivity. Juniper Routing Assurance offers testing tools such as Ping, Traceroute, and so on. You can use router utilities as a debugging tool to locate points of failure in your network.

Note:

You must be a user with Super User or Network Admin role to access the router Utilities feature.

To access the router utilities:

1. On the Juniper Routing Assurance application, click Routers from the main navigation menu.

   Note:

   Alternatively, navigate to Organization > Inventory > Routers Tab.

2. Click a router to open the Routers:Router Name page.

   Note:

   To use the router Utilities feature, the router must be in Connected state.

3. Select Testing Tools from the Utilities drop-down list on the upper right of the page.

The router utilities include the following tools:

• Testing Tools─Use the router testing tools to verify connectivity and resolve network issues. The following tools are available:

  • Ping─Check the host reachability and network connectivity. To run the test, specify the host IP address and then click Ping. You can also specify the number of packets to be transmitted in the test.

  • Traceroute─View the route that packets take to a specified network host. Use this option as a debugging tool to locate the points of failure in a network. To run the test, specify the host IP address, port number, and a timeout value in seconds, and then click Traceroute.

  • Bounce Port─Disable and re-enable any port on your router. For more information, see Bounce Ports.

  • Show BGP Summary─Use this tool to verify BGP peer states. Juniper Routing Assurance opens an instance of the router's CLI and displays the BGP summary information. Use the show configuration CLI command to verify the BGP configuration.

  • Show BGP Received Routes─Use this tool to verify whether the BGP routes are received as expected. For more information, see View BGP Received Routes.

  • Show BGP Advertised Routes─Use this tool to verify whether routes are advertised as expected. For more information, see View BGP Advertised Routes.

• Remote Shell─Access the CLI directly through the Juniper Routing Assurance application. You can access the router's CLI directly from the browser and execute commands without making a physical connection to the console port or using SSH. If there is no activity, the remote shell session times out after 600 seconds.

  Click the download icon on the upper-right corner of the remote shell window to download the shell logs in a TXT file.

• Reboot Router─Reboot the router directly from the Router:Router Name page. For more information, see Reboot a Router.

• Download Set Config─Download the complete list of set commands committed on the router as a TXT file. For more information, see Download Set Configuration.

• Download RA Config─Download the complete list of Junos OS or Junos OS Evolved set commands that were committed on the router using configuration templates, as a TXT file. For more information, see Download Routing Assurance Configuration.
