User Account Overview
Use this topic to understand the types of accounts you can use to access your cloud applications.
You can access organizations created in supported cloud applications using two types of accounts:
- Local account to access organizations created in a specific cloud application directly through the application-specific URL.
- Global account to access organizations created across multiple supported cloud applications through the Global Cloud Portal.
A local account and a global account can exist independently or be linked together using the same e-mail address. Linking accounts allow you to access organizations across supported applications through a unified sign in experience in the Global Cloud Portal. See Link Local Account to Global Account.
If your local and global accounts are linked, signing in through an application-specific URL redirects you to the Global Cloud Portal for authentication. See Link Local Account to Global Account.
Local Account
A local account gives you access to organizations hosted within a single cloud application. It serves as the primary account type for accessing that application directly.
To create a local account, see Local User Account Activation and Login.
Use a local account if you:
-
Work with only one cloud application
-
Prefer direct access to a specific application
-
Do not require centralized multi-application visibility
Global Account
A global account gives you centralized access to organizations across multiple supported cloud applications through the Global Cloud Portal.
It offers unified sign in and a centralized dashboard for managing organizations across applications. You sign in once and you are authenticated across organizations. For more information on Global Cloud Portal, see Global Cloud Portal Overview.
To create a global account, see Create a Global Account.
Use a global account if you:
-
Manage organizations across multiple applications
-
Want a unified sign in experience across supported applications
-
Need a centralized dashboard to access all your organizations
