About the Path Intent Tab
To access the Path Intent tab, click Network Optimization > Network > Network Optimization Intent.
On this tab, you can create intents, view the status (Published or Draft) and the profiles (Tunnel, optimization, and endpoint profiles) linked to the intent.
Path intents implement the required LSP or segment routing policy configurations that define how traffic should be routed through the network. Unlike traditional methods where each tunnel must be provisioned individually with all its attributes configured from scratch, path intent allows you to create and manage sub-profiles that can be reused. This modular approach reduces redundant configurations and streamlines the process of provisioning multiple tunnels.
The path intent consists of the following three sub-profiles:
-
Tunnel profile—Defines specific properties of the LSP.
-
Optimization profile—Defines when the LSP must be recomputed.
-
Endpoints profile—Defines the endpoints of the LSP.
For more information, see Network Optimization Overview and About the Network Optimization Intent Page.
Tasks You can Perform
-
View details of a path intent—You can select and view the details of a path intent. You can either click More > Detail or hover over the path intent and click the Detailed View icon. The Path Intent Details pane appears on the right side of the page displaying the details.
Click the Close (x) icon to close the pane.
-
Create a path intent—Create a path intent to manage traffic flow in your network. Click + to create a path intent. For more information, see Add a Path Intent.
-
Edit a path intent—To edit a path intent, select the path intent and click the pencil icon. After you edit, you can choose to save the path intent as a draft or publish the path intent.
-
Delete a path intent—To delete a path intent, select a path intent and click the delete icon. A message confirms that Paragon Automation has successfully deleted the path intent.
Note: If you delete a path intent that is in published state, then the LSPs associated with the path intent are deleted.
To perform common actions such as filtering using advanced filter criteria and resetting preferences, see Network Table Overview.

Table 1 lists the fields on the Path Intent tab.
Column | Description |
---|---|
Name | Displays the name of the path intent. |
Description | Displays the description that you have entered at the time of path intent creation. |
Tunnel Profile | Displays the name of the tunnel profile that you have linked to the path intent. |
Optimization Profile | Displays the name of the optimization profile that you have linked to the path intent. |
Endpoint Profile | Displays the name of the endpoint profile that you have linked to the path intent. |
Status | Displays the status (Draft or Published) of the path intent. |
Provisioned Tunnels | List the numbers of tunnels created for the path intent. Click the link to view the tunnel details. |
Update Options | Displays information on whether the new tunnel is provisioned before deleting an old tunnel or an old tunnel is deleted before provisioning a new tunnel. |
