Modify a Service Instance
Prerequisite

For L3VPN service—Add an L3VPN Service Instance.

For EVPN service—Add an EVPN Service Instance.

For L2 Circuit service—Add an L2 Circuit Service Instance.
A superuser or network administrator can modify a service instance and provision the modified service in the network. When you provision a modified service instance, Paragon Automation generates a modify service order to provision the updated service. You can modify a service instance by uploading a preconfigured JSON file containing the changes. Alternatively, you can use the fields in the Paragon Automation GUI to modify the service-related parameters.
You cannot edit the Customer and Instance Name fields while modifying a service instance.
To modify a service instance:

Click Orchestration >
Instances.
The Service Instances page appears.

Select the service instance you want to edit and click the edit (pencil)
icon.
The Modify Service-Instance-Type page appears.
- In the General section, click Browse to upload a preconfigured JSON file that contains the modifications to the service instance.
- In the General section, modify the values in the fields, if applicable.

(For L3VPN and EVPN) Modify the site settings:
- Click Next to proceed to the Site Settings section.

In the Site Settings section, select the site that you want to modify
and click the edit (pencil) icon.
The Edit Site page appears.
- Modify the site details:
-
Click OK.
To view the modified site details, expand the site name and expand Properties.
- To edit the site network access details, expand the site name and expand Site Network Access.

Select the site network access that you want to modify and click the
edit (pencil) icon.
The Edit Connection page appears.

Expand each section on the page to edit the field values as
applicable:

Edit L3VPN site network access details by referring to Add L3VPN Site Network Access Parameters.

Edit EVPN site network access details by referring to Add EVPN Site Network Access Parameters.

Modify the placement configurations by using one of the following
options:
-
Placement section is displayed on the Edit Connection page—Expand Placement and modify the placement parameters by clicking the drop-down in each field. Table 1 lists the placement parameters.

Placement section is not displayed on the Edit Connection page:
Click the Update Placements button on top of the page and click Yes when prompted to confirm.
The service instance is saved to the Paragon Automation database and service orchestration automatically assigns possible placement options such as PE devices and interfaces, CE devices, and VLANs for the service instance. You see a message that the placement was successfully updated.
Note:Managing placement configurations to provision L3VPN and EVPN services using the Update Placements button is a Beta feature in this release.
To modify the placement configurations, select the service-instance-name on the Service Instances page and click the edit icon.
The Modify Service-Instance-Name page appears.
Proceed to the Site Settings section, select the site network access that you want to modify and click the edit icon.
The Edit Connection page appears and the Placement section is displayed on the page.
Expand Placement and modify the placement parameters by referring to Table 1 for L3VPN services or by referring to Table 2 for EVPN services.
Note:The Placement section is not available if:

You modify site details such as site location and postal code.

Service orchestration could not allocate the PE device as a resource for the VPN service.
-
The execution state of the service order generated for the service is Not available.
For L3VPN services:

Description
CE Node
Click the CE Node drop-down and select the CE device that you want to connect to the PE device for the VPN service.
PE Node
Click the PE Node drop-down and select the PE device that you want to allocate for the VPN service.
PE Interface
Click the PE Interface drop-down and select the PE interface name that you want to assign for the VPN service.
VLAN
Enter a VLAN ID (based upon a VLAN Range) to which you want to assign the VPN service.
For EVPN services:

PE Node
Click the PE Node drop-down and select the PE device that you want to allocate for the VPN service.
PE Interface
Click the PE Interface drop-down and select the PE interface name that you want to assign for the VPN service.

(Optional) Click Reset Placements to remove the
configured placement parameters at the site network access level and
delete the Placements section from the
page.
Note:
Managing placement configurations to provision L3VPN and EVPN services using the Reset Placements button is a Beta feature in this release.

Click OK to save the modified site network
access details. The modified values are listed in the Site Network
Access table.
Alternatively, click Cancel to exit the Edit Connection page without saving the changes you made.

(For L2 Circuit) Modify the
placement
configurations and VPN node
settings:
- Click Next to proceed to the VPN Nodes section.
- Click the Update Placements button on top of the page and click Yes when prompted to save the service instance in its current state.
- Select the node for which you want to configure placement parameters,
and click the edit (pencil)
icon.
The VPN Node page appears.
Modify placement configuration and VPN node settings for the service instance by following Step 2 through Step 9 of the Add L2 Circuit VPN Nodes procedure.
Note:You cannot edit the VPN node ID while modifying the node details.

Click Next to proceed to the Summary section.
You see a graphical map of your service topology and a summary of the service order.
- (Optional) Click Export to export and save the service order in JSON format on your local system.

(Optional) Click Reset Placements to remove existing
placement configurations for the service instance.
Provisioning of a service instance might fail when existing placement configurations for the service instance are no longer available or applicable. When you reset placement parameters, service orchestration automatically assigns placement options for the instance before provisioning the service.
- Click Next to proceed to the Schedule section.

(Optional) Switch the Schedule toggle on if you want to schedule when to
provision the modified service. The Schedule option is disabled by default.
When you
schedule provisioning, the Save & Provision button on
top of the page is disabled and grayed out.
The Schedule field appears. Perform the following steps to schedule the date and time to provision the service:
- Click the calendar icon in the Schedule field.

Select the date and time for provisioning the service, and click
OK.
The scheduled date and time are displayed in the MM/DD/YYYY HH:MM AM/PM format.Note:

You must set a present or future date and time to schedule provisioning of a service. If you select a past time and save the service order, the service is provisioned immediately.

To delete a provisioning schedule, select the service-instance-name on the Service Instances page and click the edit icon. On the Modify Service-Instance-Name page, proceed to the Schedule section. In the Schedule section, switch the Schedule toggle off and click Save. The provisioning schedule is deleted and the service instance is provisioned immediately.

Scheduling of service provisioning is a Beta feature in this release.

To save and provision the service instance, click one of the following
buttons:

Save & Provision—Click this button and confirm when prompted, to save the service instance to the Paragon Automation database and provision the instance immediately. This option is disabled if you have scheduled the provisioning of a service instance.

Save—Click this button to save the service instance to the Paragon Automation database. The Service Instances page appears and the modified service instance is listed in the Service Instances table.
To provision the service instance automatically, configure the provisioning schedule as defined in step 11. To manually provision the service, select the service instance name in the Service Instances table and click the Provision button.
Note:The Provision button is disabled if you schedule the provisioning of a service instance. The service is provisioned automatically at the scheduled date and time.
