MX304 Installation Overview

To install the router:

  1. Prepare your installation site.

    See MX304 Site Preparation Checklist.

  2. Review the safety guidelines and warnings:
  3. Unpack the router and verify the parts:
    1. See Unpack the MX304 Router.
    2. See Verify the MX304 Router Parts Received.
  4. (Optional) Remove components from the MX304 router chassis before installing it in a rack.

  5. Install the router onto the rack.

  6. (Optional; Required only if you have removed the components from the router in step 4) reinstall components in the MX304 router after installing the chassis in a rack.

  7. Connect cables to the network and external devices.

  8. Connect the grounding cable.

  9. Connect the AC power cord, DC power cables, or HVAC/DC power cables:

  11. Perform the initial system configuration.
