ACX7020 System Overview
Learn about the ACX7020 router, its hardware components, and the Junos OS Evolved software that runs the ACX7020 router.
ACX7020 Router Description
The Juniper Networks® ACX7020 Cloud Metro router is a high-density and temperature-hardened router with a compact 1-U form factor. With 100 Gbps of throughput and advanced timing features, the ACX7020 provides several capabilities that enable you to support mobile backhaul, residential, and metro ethernet business services solutions.
You can deploy the ACX7020 as a highly versatile multiservice router enabling IP/IP-VPN and timing services. It can support L2, MPLS, and SRv6 deployments and provide full automation and telemetry feature set.
The ACX7020 features four small form-factor pluggable 28 (SFP28) ports (each configurable as 1 Gigabit Ethernet (GbE), 10GbE, or 25GbE) and sixteen SFP+ ports (each configurable as 1GbE or 10GbE). The router's efficient thermal design, with an option for conformal coating, enables the use of high-power SFP28 and SFP+ transceivers on all supporting ports.
You can configure and monitor ACX7020 routers by using the Junos OS Evolved CLI. You can also onboard, manage, and monitor these routers by using Juniper Routing Director (formerly Juniper Paragon Automation).
We ship the ACX7020 routers with integrated fans for side-to-side airflow and in-built AC or DC power supply modules (PSMs).
You can configure, monitor, and manage the ACX7020 routers using Junos OS Evolved CLI.

ACX7020 Router Hardware Overview
The ACX7020 router has a 1-U fixed form factor. The ACX7020 AC model consists of two AC PSMs that support dual input feeds and the ACX7020 DC model consists of a single DC PSM that supports a dual input feed. The cooling system supports side-to-side airflow with three fixed fans.

ACX7020 Field-Replaceable Units
Field-replaceable units (FRUs) are router components that can be replaced at the customer site. Replacing most FRUs requires minimal router downtime. The ACX7020 router uses the following types of FRUs:
-
Hot-insertable and hot-removable—You can remove and replace these components without powering off the router or disrupting the routing function.
-
Hot-pluggable—You can remove and replace these components without powering off the router, but the routing function is interrupted until you replace the component.

The value of n is always 0. |
The router does not have actual Flexible PIC Concentrator (FPC) line cards. In this case, an FPC refers to the router. |

The value of n is always 0. |
Abbreviated name of the PIC. The router does not have physical PICs. The built-in network ports on the front panel of the router map to logical PICs. |

ACX7020 Router Component Redundancy
The following hardware components provide redundancy on ACX7020 routers:
-
Dual feed in PSMs—The ACX7020 AC model consists of two AC PSMs with dual input feed. On the other hand, the DC model consists of a single DC PSM with dual input feed. With dual input feed support, if one input feed fails, the second input feed balances the electrical load without interruption.
-
Cooling system—Each ACX7020 router has three system fans that provide redundancy for cooling. When a system fan (single or multiple) fails, a chassis alarm is raised. In case of a single fan failure, the router continues to operate with the remaining fans. However, if multiple fans fail, the system automatically shuts down in 4 minutes. The system fans in an ACX7020 router are fixed and cannot be replaced at your site. You must return the router to Juniper Networks for repair or replacement of the fans.
ACX7020 System Software Overview
The ACX7020 router runs Junos OS Evolved, which provides Layer 2 and Layer 3 switching, routing, and security services. Junos OS Evolved runs natively on Linux and has direct access to all Linux utilities and operations. It has a modular design that supports upgrades on a component-by-component basis without a system reboot. Only those components that are changed are restarted. Junos OS Evolved is easily portable, and it requires minimal effort to make it work on any platform. Junos OS Evolved has a modernized infrastructure, which ensures high availability, portability, faster innovation, and simplified upgrades.
