Replacing the Management Ethernet Cable

To connect the Routing Engine to a network for out-of-band management, connect an Ethernet cable with RJ-45 connectors to the ETHERNET port on the Routing Engine. One such cable is provided with the device. For cable specifications, see Routing Engine Interface Cable and Wire Specifications. Follow this procedure:

1. Press the tab on the connector and pull the connector straight out of the port. Figure 51 shows the connector.
2. Disconnect the cable from the network device.
3. Plug one end of the replacement cable into the ETHERNET port. Figure 50 shows the external device ports on the Routing Engine.
4. Plug the other end of the cable into the network device.
