Device Groups Overview
Device groups enable you to organize and manage multiple security devices as a single logical unit. You can use these device groups to manage the configuration of multiple devices simultaneously.
Device groups don’t affect individual device configurations—they’re organizational containers for management purposes only.
Device Group Benefits
Device groups enable you to:
- Apply policies consistently across multiple devices
- Simplify configuration management for devices with similar roles
- Monitor and report on devices collectively
- Organize devices by location, function, or security zone
Device Group Example
This example shows how to use device groups.
A global retail company with over 500 branch stores, each equipped with an SRX Series Firewall, uses device groups to simplify regional management. They organize the SRX Series Firewalls into device groups such as Store‑APAC, Store‑EMEA, and Store‑North America, allowing them to apply common Web filtering rules and monitor all stores within each region as a single logical unit. This approach reduces operational effort by eliminating the need to manage hundreds of devices individually.
