Create and Manage Device Groups

Create a Device Group

Create a logical group of devices to manage configurations of the grouped devices simultaneously. You can create a custom device group, then add devices to the group.

  1. Click Inventory > Devices.
    The Devices page is displayed.
  2. Click the Device Groups tab.
  3. Click the add icon (Blue plus symbol suggesting an action like adding or expanding content.).
    The Create Device Group page is displayed.
  4. Configure the following fields:
    Field Description
    Name

    Enter a unique name for the device group containing maximum 63 characters without spaces.

    The name must begin with an alphanumeric character and can also contain special characters such as spaces, colons, hyphens, periods, and underscores.
    Description

    Enter a description for the device group containing maximum 900 alphanumeric characters.

    The description can also contain special characters except ampersand, lesser than sign, greater than sign, or an empty line.
    Devices

    Select the devices in the left table and click > to move to the right table and assign the devices to the device group.

    • You can select standalone devices, multinode high availability (MNHA) pairs, or specific devices within an MNHA pair. You can also select devices that are already assigned to other device groups.

    • You cannot add both an MNHA pair and a device within that pair simultaneously.

  5. Click OK.
The device group is created with the Discovery Not Initiated management status, and the group name is displayed beside the respective devices in the Device Groups column on the Devices page.

Manage Device Groups

  • Edit—Select the device group, and then click the edit icon (Blue pencil icon indicating edit functionality.).

  • Delete—Select the device group, and then click the delete icon (Blue trash can icon representing delete or remove function.).
