Global Login FAQs
Find quick answers to frequently asked questions about global login to the Juniper Mist cloud.
Global Accounts
-
Q: How do I consolidate my regional accounts into a single global login?
-
A: You can do that from the Mist dashboard:
Sign on as usual to one of your organizations, and then click the Account Settings icon in the upper-right corner.
- Select My Account in the pop-up menu.
- Under the Link To Global Account section, click the Link button.
- Q: I linked my Mist account to a global account, so why can't I see all my organizations on the different clouds?
-
A: Chances are you used a different email address for each Mist account, in which case Mist has no way to see the organizations as belonging to the same user. Instead, use the same email address in your regional account as you did for global so Mist can automatically link them.
- Q: When I create a global account, will it replace my regional account?
-
A: No, the regional accounts remain as they were, and can, in fact, serve as a backup in the event that the global account is unavailable.
-
Q: Can I use my global password to sign on to a regional account?
-
A: No. But you don't really need to, either. When you try to sign on to your regional account, you're automatically redirected to your global account, which in turn provides the regional access.
- Q: I'm getting a "Incorrect authentication credentials" message but I know my password is correct. What gives?
-
A: It sounds like you are being redirected to the global sign-on, but are using the password for a regional account. Try your global password. Check the URL to see if its for a global or regional account.
-
A: Other things to try before contacting support are, 1. Confirm the username you are using is correct, 2. Try logging in to a regional cloud, and 3. Reset your password.
- Q: Why am I not getting a OTP (one time password)? I can't log in to my account.
-
A: The most common reason is that the email is being intercepted by a spam filter. It's also possible that email system is slow, but OTPs almost always arrive within a few minutes. You should also double check that you are indeed using OTP on the current account, and not an MFA authenticator app.
-
Q: What is the difference between the "Global" dashboard and the "AI Global" dashboard?
-
A: AI Global is the cloud instance that hosts Routing Assurance, Data Center Assurance, and JSI applications.
-
Q: Where is my organization data stored if I have a global account?
-
A: Data for each Mist organization is stored in the regional cloud where the account was created. In other words, it's your sign-on that's global, not the account. Segmentation between regions remains the same.
-
Q: What happens when I delete my global account?
-
A: When you delete a global account, those sign-on credentials are permanently removed and access is lost. The action cannot be reversed. That said, deleting your global account does not delete any organizations or data from the regional clouds.
- Q: Does the global account store any regional data or otherwise affect data residency?
-
A: No.
- Q: With a global account, can I move inventory from one of my regional clouds to another?
-
A: No.
-
Q: What happens when I delete my account from a regional cloud?
-
A: When you delete a regional account, it's permanently removed from that regional cloud and access to it, including any organizations, will be lost. The action cannot be reversed. That said, deleting your regional cloud account will not delete any organizations or data, only your access to it.
-
Q: What happens when I delete or unlink my Google account or other SSO method? Will I lose my Mist data?
-
A: Nothing, other than to remove the association between your Mist account and your Google (or other) account. Everything associated with your Mist account remains the same.
-
Q: What happens if I change the password requirements for global accounts (Organization > Settings)?
-
A: Changes made in the global account are inherited by the regional account so both regional and global SSO users will need to meet the new requirements the next time they sign on.
-
Q: Is multifactor authentication (MFA) required?
-
A: Yes, MFA, also called two-factor authentication (2FA), is required for global accounts. Users can use their preferred third-party 2FA app, or choose to receive a one-time password each time they want to sign on to the Mist dashboard. See Set a Password Policy for Your Organization.
-
Q: Can I use the same sign on credentials that I have for my regional account in my new global account?
-
A: We don't recommend it. The primary Mist administrator should create a local Mist account on the regional cloud, however, to ensure independent access if the global sign-on is unavailable.
-
Q: What's an MSP?
-
A: Managed Service Provider, that is, a network services manager who use Juniper Mist for their clients' wireless network. To become a Juniper Mist MSP partner, email partner-managed-networks@juniper.net.
-
Q: How do I update the IdP association for my domain?
-
A: You can't. Once a domain has been verified and linked to an organization or MSP, you can no longer update the IdP association. This is to prevent orphaned accounts and security issues.
-
Q: How do I add, remove, or change my Mist users' roles?
-
A: From the global login screen, click the Workspace, link. Then in the Workspace page, click Manage Organization Roles or Manage MSP Roles to make modifications. Alternatively, go to the settings page for the regional cloud where the org or MSP is hosted.
-
Q: I can’t edit my IdP links. Why is the View Organizations | MSP Roles option is disabled (grayed out)?
-
A: To modify the org or MSP link to the IdP, you need admin privileges to the workspace. You also need Mist admin privileges to the organization you want to modify. MSP users need superuser privileges.
